If things don’t take any drastic turn, recent UFC signee Phil Davis is scheduled to make his organizational debut on February 6 in “UFC 109: relentless”. This former collegiate wrestling standout is booked in a matchup against Brian Stann for a preliminary card bout. The UFC authorities were in a bit of disagreement initially on whether to put Davis in that matchup or not but recently have made it official; the match is on at the Mandalay bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Davis, a former NCAA Division I national wrestling champion, looks like a great prospect for the business. This youngster turned pro in 2008 after he emerged as the four-time All-American and 2008 Division I national champion at Penn State. He prides an impressive 116-20 career record that includes a 26-1 mark in his senior year, when he won the national championship at 197 pounds. In his 14 month pro MMA career, he has posted an admirable 4-0 victory record. Earlier he participated in promotions like Palace Fighting Championship, Ultimate Warrior Challenge and earned a lot of respect from the masters of the game. This young fighter is now trains at the Alliance Training Center in San Diego and the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California.

Stann, meanwhile, is looking forward to create a two match winning streak. Stann, a 27-year-old decorated U.S. Marine Corps captain, was considered one of the WEC’s most marketed fighters. But his recent records were not good enough to create a mark as he lost his final WEC match against Steve Cantwell. This former WEC Light Heavyweight Champion’s debut in UFC was not a perfect one either; he started with a defeat against Krzysztof Soszynski. But since then, Stann came back stronger with an impressive victory against UFC newcomer Rodney Wallace recently in a unanimous decision.
