With his first fight back in 1998, Russow was a Heavyweight Wrestling Champ in high school and has high hopes for his career in the UFC. He has a sociology degree from Eastern Illinois and is currently a police officer in Chicago. He is also an All-American wrestler in Junior College and a three-time Division 1 National Qualifier. He favors the North South Choke for grappling in fights as well as the left hook for striking.
