Beginning his training with judo at age five, he was initially inspired by his older brother. Besides being a UFC fighter, he is also a police officer, specifically out of special operations. He is a 4-time Jungle Fight Champion, six-time Brasilia Jiu-Jitsu Champion, and a black belt in jiu-jitsu, training under Ataide Jr. He prefers using the high kick for striking in matches and the leglock for grappling.
